Why do you like serving entrepreneurs?
“One of my favorite historical entrepreneurs is now a household name: Walt Disney, who said ‘Life is beautiful. It is about giving. It is about family.’ I find that no matter the details, the desires of most entrepreneurs are fueled by a desire to build something for themselves and those that they care about. And they always have their family in mind, be it the family who sits at their dining room or at their boardroom table. When you work with an entrepreneur, you receive not just an invitation to support their company but also to sit at their family table with them.”
From the first client request of the morning to the last client call of the day, Doug Hickel’s clients know that he is focused on helping them achieve their dreams and find solutions.
Doug’s practice is built with a two-fold purpose: to help entrepreneurs and small to medium business owners with corporate and real estate matters, and to advise small to medium financial institutions on operations and regulatory matters. Why? He knows that when his clients feel their companies are protected, their aspirations can grow into achievements.
In the area of real estate, Doug’s practice has focused on helping clients with the acquisitions, developments, leasing and management of both large and small, shopping centers, home developments, franchise developments, restaurant collaborations, and industrial projects. Doug’s financial institutions practice includes the representation of both federal and state chartered credit unions in all aspects of their operations, including lending, governance, contract management and a range of regulatory matters.
Additionally, Doug helps private companies and entrepreneurs with diverse transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, debt and equity financing, and general corporate governance.
Doug also serves as a member of the firm’s management committee, which in turn gives him a hands-on ability to ensure that every aspect of Summers Compton Wells keeps his clients and their priorities top of mind.
